Parent Empowerment: Sex Talk
A focus on cyber sexuality and your teens.
Along with the library, the Routt County Youth Services Coalition presents an interactive evening for parents of middle and high school students focusing on the realities of cyber sexuality in today’s world and talking with your kids about them.
About the cyber sexuality talk
This is the first generation of parents to have had kids plugged-in to the cyber world since they were very young. A lot has changed about parenting these plugged-in teens. There are many new possibilities…some great, some overwhelming. There are skills and rules and truths that haven’t yet been written, especially around sexuality. This evening is designed to talk about them and help our kids navigate this amazing world with wisdom and strength.
About the speaker
Elizabeth Clark has been a therapist for teens for the past 25 years. She has written two books about teen sexuality: "Molly Top’s Teen Guide to Love, Sex and No Regrets: Changing the World One Kiss at a Time" and "Parenting Plugged-In Teens: Becoming their GPS in a Cyber-Sexual World."
About the Series: Parent Empowerment Routt County
Parent Empowerment Routt County is presented by the Routt County Youth Services Coalition. This series is focused around getting parents of tweens and teens the information and support they need in their everyday lives to help raise children that are healthy, caring and responsible. The series brings in speakers from OUR community to better relate to our parents and what they deal with daily. The goal is to give parents confidence and make them more aware of how they can be the best parent for their children. Topics include: social networking safety; setting rules and consequences; teen sexual health; alcohol, tobacco and drug prevention; parental monitoring; and healthy teen development. Special thanks to task force agencies: Boys & Girls Club of Steamboat Springs, Craig-Scheckman Family Foundation, Grand Futures Prevention Coalition, Michelle Raz Coaching, Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, Partners in Routt County, Routt County Department of Human Services.
