We are the Water Community Performance Activity: Snow Drawings

Sonja Hinrichsen is an environmental artist who first came to Steamboat Springs in 2010 via a Colorado Art Ranch residency at The Nature Conservancy's Carpenter Ranch. She returned during winter 2011 for a solo snow drawing project at the Carpenter Ranch, and winter 2012 for a series of community snow drawings on Rabbit Ears Pass  that received national and international attention, including recent inclusion in a calendar that highlights the best environmental art. During winter 2013, Sonja led the community in creating a single massive snow drawing on Lake Catamount, where she returns to create this year's installation for We are the Water.

Go with the flow! The local community is invited to join Sonja in creating this large, landscape-scale work of art celebrating We are the Water. Bring snowshoes, snacks and water. Meet at Lake Catamount Outfitter's Cabin at 10 a.m.

And please RSVP with your name, phone number, email address and zip code to jlay@steamboatlibrary.org or 367-4917 if you're planning to participate in the Snow Drawings. It's free!

Sunday, Jan. 26. from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Lake Catamount

Possible continuation of Snow Drawings if unfinished on the 25th.

About the Legacy Education Fund
The Legacy Education Fund (LEF) supports the work of Yampa Valley students as they become responsible members of their communities. LEF raises funds, provides financial and other support, and empowers youth and community members through place-based learning, building a powerful bridge between education and the community as a whole. In 2010 the Legacy Education Foundation became a donor-advised fund held by the Yampa Valley Community Foundation.

Support the Legacy Education Fund
Donate to LEF online via the Yampa Valley Community Foundation's donation page. Choose the Legacy Education Fund from the Local Non-profit Funds drop-down menu. During We are the Water, LEF aims to raise $40,000 to continue supporting place-based education in Routt County schools. Donations of $500 or more will receive a signed print of the We are the Water poster or a print of Sonja Hinrichsen's Snow Drawing.
