This story is the partner book to the other Chinese folktale style story Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. Again set in olden day China, this story starts out when a dirty, stowaway boy gets found in a wine-merchant's wagon. He is left in a poor, dry village where he is made the chore boy at the local inn. The strange thing about the village though, is that at the edge of the town there is a huge, flat, smooth plane of rock several miles wide. Then this mysterious woman arrives at the inn by foot, requesting a room for for the whole month. She gets everyone to tell stories, and soon the story begins to unfold.I won't tell you what happens next though, you'll have to find that out for yourself. Although, I will tell you that if you enjoyed the first book, you'll love this one. Plus, at the very end, there's a fun surprise tying the two stories together. Please enjoy!
