2022 Community Snow Drawing: Spiraling Out of COVID

The 2022 ephemeral installation marked a decade of community snow drawings in the Yampa Valley, and we're calling this edition "Spiraling Out of COVID."

After making socially distanced snow drawings all over the Yampa Valley in 2021, more than 40 local snow drawing artists reconvened to make collaborative community art on Saturday, March 5, 2022. The installation brought us together in nature again while returning to our inaugural "spiral" design theme from 2012. While our first-ever snow drawing was created on the West Summit of Rabbit Ears Pass, we moved down into the valley on Artemis Meadows at the base of Rabbit Ears Pass for this drawing.

Huge thanks to the Crump family for their generosity in letting all our volunteer artists play in their snowy haymeadow. And our gratitude goes out to Kris Hammond for his artful drone photography that captured the creation before the next snow storm rolled in.
