  • Children's Storytime Room
Welcome to the wry and endearing world of Mercy Watson!

About the Book

Mr. and Mrs. Watson have a pig named Mercy. Mercy is a porcine wonder. One night, Mercy decides she would like to snuggle up with Mr. and Mrs. Watson. This is not good news for the Watsons' bed. Or for the Watsons...

Hilarity and hijinks abound.
—Kirkus Reviews

Mercy Watson, a disarmingly charming pig adopted by a loving human family, makes her debut in this new series of chapter books for beginning readers.
—School Library Journal

DiCamillo's suspenseful yarn keeps readers turning the page, while the retro-folksy illustrations by Chris Van Dusen go for laughs and make for a gentle transition from picture books.

About the Club

Facilitated by Youth Services Librarian, Jamie Collins, the Young Readers Book Club meets in the library storytime room to discuss the chosen book and have a fun activity related to what was read. Boys and girls 6-7 years old are welcome to attend; parents are encouraged to read and participate too. Register at the children's desk or online. Ten copies of the book are available at the children's desk.
