  2. Search for titles/authors in the search box or browse using the "Subjects" or "Collections" buttons/dropdown menus.
  3. Narrow results using the "eBook" menu on the left and select "Kindle Books"

    • If the eBook is available it will be automatically checked out to you and you will be taken to your online library account.
    • If the eBook is not available for check-out, you will be prompted to enter your email address. You will receive an email when the eBook is available to download.

Step 3: Download eBook to Your Kindle Device

  1. Once you select “Borrow” you will be taken to your library account nor "Loans" page where you can click "Download."
    • Note: Select Kindle book under the format drop down menu because ePUB and other formats will not work on Kindle devices.
  2. Confirm you want to download the Kindle format.
  3. Once confirmation is made, you will be taken back to your Amazon.com tab.
  4. To the right of the title is a button that says “Get Library Book”. Below it is a drop-down bar with a list of your registered devices. Pick the Kindle device you wish to have the item delivered. Click the yellow box on the right side of the screen that says "Get Library Book."
    • Note: If the “Get Library Book” icon is not available, navigate to the “Manage Your Content and Devices” tab on the Amazon website where you can download various titles to various registered devices.
  5. Ensure that your Kindle device is on and connected to a wifi signal.
  6. If the new title does not appear, click "Menu" from the homepage on the Kindle device.
  7. Click "Sync and Check for New Items" in the menu.
  8. You may be prompted to connect to a wireless network (if you haven’t already) and the title will begin downloading as soon as internet is connected.
  9. If the book is transferable via USB only, you will be prompted in Amazon to save the file to your computer (for ease, save to the desktop). Plug your Kindle into your computer, and drag and drop the saved file into the "Documents" file in the Kindle, which appear in "My Computer."
  10. To return items, go to "Manage Your Content and Devices" in your Amazon account and click "Actions" "Return Library Book."

Note: Books return automatically on the due date. At this time there are no overdue fines. If the title is available to renew, the renew option will appear within 3 days of the title’s expiration date.
