A free Ag Appreciation Week film screening & conversation about mental health in rural Colorado

Agriculture can be rewarding, joyful, and at times, heartbreaking. Legacy documents the beautiful and sometimes painful stories of the deep love for agriculture in the State of Colorado. Through this film, the Colorado Department of Agriculture and the Colorado Farm Bureau worked with experts statewide to create this glimpse into the lives and struggles of Colorado producers, highlighting tools available to support our rural communities.

During Agriculture Appreciation week in the Yampa Valley, Bud Werner Library, Community Agriculture Alliance, REPS and Routt County CSU Extension invite you see this new documentary film and join a meaningful discussion about mental health in our ranching and farming community.

Meet the panelists

For 20 years, Kirsten completed and taught crisis psychiatric assessments (suicide, homicide, psychosis, substance use) in the hospital setting. Kirsten is passionate about helping people gain personal insight and tools to recognize the ups and downs of life (as well as mental health issues) and work towards managing them before they become a crisis. She loves to integrate humor and play into her psychoeducational trainings and the therapeutic work she does through CAAMHPforhealth.org.
  • Anna Allsberry is Director of Programs at Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide (REPS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves the community members of Routt and Moffat counties by providing crisis support, education, training, prevention and postvention support. REPS staff, Board of Directors and skilled volunteers are dedicated to combating suicide and breaking mental health stigma.
  • Clinton Wilson is a member of Rocky Mountain Farmers Union, and the Principal Investigator for their AgWell grant program. AgWell supports the behavioral health and wellbeing of farmers, ranchers and agriculture workers in Colorado and beyond. He holds master’s degrees in both Counseling Psychology and Theology. • Chad Reznicek (featured in the film) is the Behavioral Health State Specialist with Colorado State University Extension and the Colorado AgrAbility Project. He is committed to helping expand and improve behavioral health support and resources in rural communities.  Prior to joining the AgrAbility Team, Chad spent 20 years as a licensed therapist with special focus areas in suicide prevention, trauma, mood disorders, and substance abuse.  Both of Chad’s parents were raised on farms and he grew up in a small town in central Nebraska with a deep respect for agriculture as the heart of our rural communities.
