An evening with Steamboat Kids & Phones
- Library Hall
Are you considering delaying the adoption of smartphones with your kids? Have you adopted smartphones in your family and are seeking some guidance? Are you in a supporting role for parents who are doing either (or both!)? Do you want to connect with other parents who are interested in doing the same?
Steamboat Phones & Kids is hosting its first community conversation at the library. Join local parents to learn more about successes, challenges, and practical tips for both delaying smartphones and also navigating smartphones with all of our kids.
This presentation will include:
- A brief overview of the most recent research on kids and smartphones and inspiration to read The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness by Jonathan Haidt
- Stories from local parent and owner of Johnny B. Good’s Diner, Kathy Diemer, about her experiences delaying smartphones with her two teenagers.
- Insights on delaying the smartphone and social media for her two kids from local parent and business owner, Kathy Yeiser.
- Practical tips and tricks on monitoring, limiting, and understanding your kids’ smartphones so that you help them develop safe and healthy habits from local parent and cybersecurity expert Pete Wood.
- A question & answer session with all of our presenters and an opportunity to connect with other local parents so we can continue our casual conversations beyond this event.
