Indie Lens Pop-Up ~ Free for All: The Public Library

Tuesday, January 21, 2025 - 6:30pm to 8:00pm
  • Library Hall
How public libraries shaped the country and continue to be a sanctuary for Americans everywhere. A film & conversation.

The 2025 Indie Lens season of films and community conversations launches close to Bud Werner Library's heart with a documentary by Dawn Logsdon and Lucie Faulknor.

Free for All: The Public Library tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today's librarians who service the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all. After the film, join Bud's professional librarians for an "Ask Me Anything" Q&A about the library, our collections, our resources and more.

Free For All will premiere on PBS on April 29, 2025.
