A classic 1965 ballet performance for the holidays

This production of Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker - with its Christmas themes and familiar tale of Clara's magical journey to the Nutcracker's kingdom - originally aired on U.S. television in 1965. Tchaikovsky’s beloved holiday ballet includes sumptuous sets and costumes and the dazzling dance artistry of the New York City Ballet’s Melissa Hayden, Edward Villella and Patricia McBride. Eddie Albert narrates the story of young Clara, who receives a Nutcracker doll as a Christmas gift, then dreams a magical dream: the Nutcracker comes alive and whisks her through a realm of wonders to the palace of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Run time: 96 min.

The Dance on Film series is presented by the Bud Werner Memorial Library, Perry-Mansfield and Steamboat Dance Theatre.
