A 45-minute documentary about different ways to grow up deaf -- perfect to watch as you read (or get ready to read) Sara Novic's novel TRUE BIZ.

Executive produced by Academy Award-winner Marlee Matlin, this documentary special follows three predominantly deaf families as they raise their children in a hearing world. With many differing opinions about how deaf children should be raised swirling in the social consciousness, these families work to forge their own paths forward and combat the daily social stigmas many deaf people face.

One Book Steamboat & Bud's Watch Party

One Book Steamboat True Biz

This is a featured event to enhance the ONE BOOK STEAMBOAT community reading of Sara Novic's novel True Biz and the Yampa Valley's growth, understanding and inclusion of all disabilities.

In addition to our in-person film screenings in Library Hall, Bud Werner Library continues to spearhead special opportunities to view hot documentaries at home. The library hopes that you'll enjoy watching these thoughtful films, then come together for community conversations to share the experience.
