We are bringing back the Steamboat Springs Mandala for a three-day opportunity to get your hands on the sand once again. Chakpurs, the Tibetan monks' authentic sand painting tools, will be available for everyone to try this ancient art form. A chakpur is a metal funnel with a grated surface, along which the artist runs a metal rod. The vibration causes sand to flow like liquid onto the platform. Library staff will be on hand to help the community learn and experience the process.
