Join Bud Werner Library, Colorado Mountain College and Yampa Valley Sustainability Council for a special One Book Steamboat edition of our Sustainability Speaker Series.

Brad Udall is a Senior Water and Climate Research Scientist / Scholar at the Colorado Water Center at Colorado State University. His remarks during a talk he calls The Ministry for the Colorado River: Rethinking Colorado River Governance will reflect on climate change (and civilization change) through the lens of water and the West. Udall will share research, observations and hard truths about our current state of affairs, and where we might go from here.

The free talk will include a moderated Q&A with leaders from the library, YVSC, CMC and the audience.

About the Speaker

Bradley H. Udall is a Senior Water and Climate Research Scientist / Scholar at Colorado State University’s Colorado Water Center. His expertise includes hydrology and related policy issues of the American West, with a focus on the Colorado River.  Brad was a co-author of the 2009 and 2019 National Climate Assessments and a contributing author to the 2014 IPCC 5th Assessment. Brad has testified in both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives on the impacts of climate change of water resources.  He has written widely on the causes of the declining Colorado River flows and on the ongoing aridification of the Western US. Brad was formerly the Director of the University of Colorado Western Water Assessment and the Director of the Getches-Wilkinson Center for Natural Resources, Energy and the Environment at Colorado Law.

About the Sustainability Speaker Series

Bud Werner Library, Yampa Valley Sustainability Council and Colorado Mountain College are partnering to present the Sustainability Speaker Series. This ongoing series seeks to connect our community with timely insights, research and actions that inform and inspire how we build our sustainable Yampa Valley futures. The Series and discussion topics advance an integrated approach to social, economic, educational and environmental dimensions of sustainability challenges that lead toward collective solutions.
