See the final cut! A brand-new update to last year's Yampa Valley Crane Festival feature film preview of Free Like a Crane

The Yampa Valley Crane Festival got a sneak peek of this award-winning documentary by French filmmakers Maxence Lamoureux and Arnaud Devroute as Free Like a Crane. Now, the final cut, a newly-revised version of the film, makes its debut as Beyond Borders. More than a nature film, the story presents a deeper cultural background while looking at the meaning of cranes for humans in their migration pathway. It features Eurasian Cranes and their migration from Estonia to Ethiopia. The main character in the film is the crane Ahja 5, who is fitted with a transmitter by Estonian crane researchers. Following in the tracks of his migration, we soar from Estonia through Europe and Asia, to Ethiopia in Africa.

About the Yampa Valley Crane Festival & Crane Fest Films

The Greater Sandhill Crane is an iconic species of the Yampa Valley. Returning in the spring, cranes nest and raise their young in wetland areas throughout the valley. In late summer and early fall, hundreds of cranes from the Rocky Mountain flock join the local birds to rest and feed before continuing their journey south. The Yampa Valley Crane Festival celebrates these iconic birds with daily crane viewings, expert speakers, films, art exhibits, workshops, family activities and more. Bud Werner Memorial Library is festival headquarters and the venue for many of these talks, films and events. This community screening is a second chance to see one of the featured films from the 2019 Yampa Valley Crane Festival. Learn more about the Yampa Valley Crane Festival at www.coloradocranes.org.
