Cinema Steamboat makes its debut in 2020 as a pop-up drive-in film festival. Nestled between the Emerald Park soccer fields and the Yampa River Botanic Park, the local community is invited to bundle up and drive in for a single evening celebration of short films that represent everything from animation to documentary to drama. The playlist has being curated from more than 250 submissions that poured in from all over the country during the past month, plus one incredible Colorado-story feature film.

How to attend Cinema Steamboat

• RSVP and secure your parking spot at the Drive-In. Each car must have a reservation in advance for admission. Spaces will be limited.
• All reservations must be made online via the Eventbrite link above.
• Cinema Steamboat suggests a donation of $40 per car, which includes a free snack pack made especially for avid movie goers. Festival donations help support grassroots production of this pop-up festival and future incarnations of Cinema Steamboat. No one will be denied free access while reservation spaces remain.  
• The festival still needs volunteers to check tickets, direct traffic and more. More volunteer info here.
• Safety First! In accordance with state and county restrictions, we encourage you to say NO to social gatherings. This event allows you to attend safely with your immediate household. Tickets are per-car, and pleas attend only with people in your immediate household and/or family. If in doubt, take two cars. Masks and distancing are required if you exit your car for any reason.

How the Drive-In works

All details are subject to change or cancellation due to extreme weather or unforeseen pandemic conditions.

How will I see the film and hear the sound?
Movie lovers are invited to watch the films together with safe social distancing, from inside your car. There will be a big screen at the front, and the audio will be delivered to your vehicle radio by an FM transmitter.
How will we stay warm?
Prepare for the cold! Bring blankets, wear warm clothes, bring a thermos of hot cider, hot chocolate or coffee, and snuggle up!
What about the car emissions?
We suggest you only turn your car on for short timeframes to warm up. If you turn your car on for only 5 minutes every half hour, we can stay environmentally safe and stay toasty in our cars.
Will there be a bathroom?
Yes.. There will be a port-o-let with hand sanitizing station available for attendees of the drive-in film festival.
How long is the festival?
About 90 minutes.
