Winter Reading Challenge
Welcome to the Winter Reading Community Challenge! This year, our library is participating in a special challenge offered through Beanstack, joining other libraries around the world. To celebrate the new year, we challenge the Steamboat Community to read 200,018 minutes during the month of January and track those minutes through our website using the online program, Beanstack. All ages are welcome to participate in this program!
200,018 minutes = 3,333 hours = 107 hours per day for the month of January!
Over 100 libraries around the world will encourage their communities to read a target number of minutes and books. If we reach the nationwide goal, "Shark Tank" investor Mark Cuban will donate $25,000 to the organization "First Book," which provides new books, learning materials, and other essentials to children in need. Read all about it in Business Insider Magazine.
Each Steamboat participant who is registered in Beanstack will be entered to win awesome prizes from Steamboat businesses, such as tickets to Steamboat Resorts Mountain Coaster, Winter Carnival Buttons, Howelsen Ice Arena, Snow Bowl, and Off the Beaten Path. There will be prizes (for the youth) drawn each week throughout the month. The more you read the more chances to win!
