The  2022/'23 Indie Lens season of films and community conversation continues with Bud Werner Library and leaders with Northwest Colorado opiate harm reduction work group.

A supervised drug consumption site gives hope to a marginalized community ravaged by the overdose crisis. As deaths in Vancouver, Canada reach an all-time high, the Overdose Prevention Society opens its doors—a renegade supervised drug consumption site that employs active and former drug users. Its staff and volunteers do whatever it takes to save lives and give hope to a marginalized community in this intimate documentary that looks beyond the stigma of people who use fentanyl and other drugs.

After the film the Steamboat Springs Youth Action Council will lead a presentation on the signs/symptoms of an overdose and Narcan administration. 

Free harm reduction kits (which include Narcan) will be available for anyone to take home, courtesy of RAS-Col, the Rural Alliance Addressing Substance Use Disorder-Colorado.

Come As You Are (CAYA), Travis House, The Health Partnership Serving Northwest Colorado and Providence Recovery Services will have informational tables available to visit before and after the program.

Steamboat Springs Youth Action Council

The purpose of Youth Action Council is to give youth a voice in our communities, and Partners for Youth takes an approach that focuses on the strengths of individual young people. They seek to create a healthy foundation for our youth advocates to use their potential and empower them to develop skills by providing a safe space for youth voice. The Steamboat Springs Teen Council spent the last 6 months focusing on how Fentanyl affects our community and how to reduce the harm it causes through educating the community. Steamboat Springs Teen Council is free and open to all high school aged youth who want to create positive change in our community! RAS-Col, the Rural Alliance Addressing Substance Use Disorder-Colorado 

RAS-Col is a group of local and state organizations working together to improve prevention, treatment and recovery from the growing problem of substance use disorder and overdoses in Grand, Jackson, Moffat, Rio Blanco, and Routt Counties. Together we can work toward building a community in which substance use disorders are better understood, stigma diminishes, prevention and treatment save more lives, and all people feel valued and supported.  Agencies involved are:  CHOW (Culinary Hospitality Outreach and Wellness), Colorado Farm Bureau, Grand County Sheriff's Office, Moffat County Public Health, Rio Blanco County Sheriff's Office, Routt County Sheriff's Office, The Foundry, Front Range Clinic, Grand County Rural Health Network, Oxford House, Pioneers Medical Center, Yampa Valley Medical Center/UCH, Memorial Regional Health, Partners for Youth, Sk8 Church, Young People in Recovery, Colorado Rx Consortium for Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention, Northwest Colorado Health, Open Heart Advocates, The Health Partnership Serving Northwest Colorado, Providence Recovery Services, Mind Springs, Travis House, and Routt County Public Health.
