Lunafest 2023

LUNAFEST Steamboat Springs 2023

Thursday, March 30, 2023 - 6:30pm to 8:00pm
  • Library Hall
Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories is the theme for this year's Women's History Month...a perfect introduction to LUNAFEST.

Hosted by the Bud Werner Memorial Library, this nationally touring film festival highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through seven short films by and about women... a program of short films that empower and inspire.

This year's films amplify the inspiring short films by a selection of women and gender nonconforming directors. Our featured filmmakers are from all walks of life and range from poets to conservationists, activists, and educators. These stories remind us that when we come together, we all move forward.

Films feature strong women, powerful images, and impactful language. Stories reflect the diverse perspectives of the filmmakers and their subjects. We recommend age 13+ for the 2023 season films.

About LUNAFEST

Back in 1999, LUNA® was introduced as the very first nutrition bar for women, crafted specifically to nourish the well-being of all women, no matter their color, size, gender expression, ability, or who they love. That vision inspired them to create LUNAFEST® in 2001, the world’s first all-women traveling film festival. For the past 22 years, they've elevated a powerful and diverse set of women filmmakers and shone a spotlight on stories that bring us closer together and make us see our own world differently. The first event was a small but hopeful screening in California. Since then, they've celebrated and shared the work of more than 175 filmmakers, raising over $7 million for local nonprofits. Now Lunafest is showcased at over 200 events each season, creating impact through dollars raised and awareness built toward some of the most pressing issues facing society today.
