2020 Community Snow Drawing in Steamboat Springs
Huge gratitude to Steamboat Springs High School student Louis Bartels for capturing the beautiful photos and videos with his drone.

After being weathered-out by a blizzard the week before, students from the North Routt Community Charter School joined Yampa Valley community volunteers (more than 50 artists in all) on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020 on the West Summit of Rabbit Ears Pass. Together, we set off wearing snowshoes on the 1A trailhead to create a large, landscape-scale snow drawing on a snowy meadow that is visible from U.S. Highway 40. With the landscape as our canvas, artists created mandala-themed snow patterns in anticipation of the Drepung Loseling monks'  return to the Library during summer 2020 for their third Mandala on the Yampa

In addition, check out John Russell's captured the action in a photo essay of the 2020 Community Snow Drawing that was published in print and online in the Steamboat Pilot  & Today.
