Thanks to two grants, one from the Colorado Division of Local Government and another from the Governor's Energy Office, the Library received more than $78,000 towards purchase and implementation of its 11.04 kw solar array. For data on this week’s energy production click here.

The City of Steamboat Springs and Routt County combined their efforts to apply for grants through the Governor's New Energy Communities Initiative a program designed to enhance community livability and address climate change by reducing carbon emissions and greening public facilities. To date, the Routt County Courthouse, the Routt County Jail, and the Bud Werner Library have taken advantage of this initiative to convert the sun's energy into electricity.
