An initial attempt at the 2018 snow drawing on the Carpenter Ranch was postponed due to heavy snowfall and 43 mph wind gusts. When volunteers reconvened for an afternoon of snow stomping in March, this became our first-ever late-season snow drawing. Spring conditions meant the day was sunny and warm, but the snowpack was shallow, creating a different, more subtle effect than we'd ever seen before.

Artists were instructed to "be the river, climb the mountain, create the clouds" as they created a quilt-like scene in the snow, stitched together by the pattern of snowshoe steps on the Carpenter Ranch haymeadow.
